Social Studies
Our Social Studies program is aligned to the New York State standards and is literacy-focused, helping students strengthen their reading, writing, and comprehension skills through the study of history.
In 6th grade, students study ancient world history, exploring early civilizations and their contributions to modern society.
In 7th grade, students examine U.S. history from colonial times through the Civil War, focusing on the development of the nation and key historical turning points.
In 8th grade, students study U.S. history from Reconstruction to the present day, analyzing how past events continue to shape today’s world.
Through the use of primary and secondary sources, discussion, and writing, students build the skills needed to think critically and understand complex texts.
